How I add A Positive Twist on Life

There is an overwhelming amount repetitiveness to my life, but I find peace in the redundancy. I spend many of my days walking in and out of the local grocery store having small, practically meaningless conversations with strangers. Although some conversations deliver a sense of companionship or genuine concern for life, many cause me to lose my thoughts to the ominous nothingness.

The underlying dynamics of the English language are tested with the “how is your day going”s and the “thank you, have a great day”s. I start to wonder what more to life is there for these people? Do they go home to a warm connotation of the word “home,” or is it a cold void that reminds them of their long-lost love of adventure? While lost in my thoughts, I hear for the millionth time, “Wow, it is way too hot, and I hate it.” My wondrous thoughts and prayers are brought to a halt by the overwhelming sense of discontent in such a statement. As if the statement of displeasure will persuade the sky to shift and the snow to fall, but I guarantee they would complain about that as well. The realization of human nature’s brutal restlessness haunts me. I want to see the heat as a beautiful gift, and I want to see the snow as a soft blessing. God created the universe to do incredible things. We as people innately are discontent with this.

Smile for the Sun.

Dance for the Rain.

Sing for the Snow.

Praise for the Breath of Life.

The storms, blizzards, and droughts do not come to decimate but to aid in preparation for green grass, a fresh start, and the cultivation of perseverance. Parallel the minute complaints of every day is a restlessness in where God has placed you. The creation of life was not for you, but for something bigger and more magnificent than the intricacy of the body, vastness of the ocean, or the complexities of scientific theories. If we spend every day of our life ridiculing the little things, then the big things begin to manifest darkness. A discontent nature is a cancer that attacks your foundational joy and the certainty you have developed in your faith.

We, as loved and created people, should embrace the sunshine and endure the snow. Find the love, beauty, and positivity in the small situations so that when we face the monstrous reality of hard times, there will be an understanding of just how lovely the gift of life and love is.
